The Last Of Us 2: 10 Things Fans DON'T Want To See
6. Abundance Of Scripted Set Pieces
Considering that we're dealing with Naughty Dog here, this isn't an unfounded concern to have. Their Uncharted series is easily their most popular franchise, and it's full of scripted events and set pieces. All of which are fun, for Uncharted. But what's good for the gander is not necessarily good for the goose.
The Last Of Us had the occasional big set piece moment to liven things up when they needed to, but for the most part, you remained in control outside of cutscenes. Now, there's nothing wrong with having a few scattered throughout the game, even a few more than were in the previous game. Any good sequel needs to escalate events to make it feel like a proper progression, after all.
The Last Of Us isn't Uncharted, and it shouldn't try to be. Fortunately there's nothing to suggest other than the company's reputation that they don't know this already, so this is likely jumping at shadows. But nonetheless, this is definitely something that fans won't take kindly to. We already have Uncharted, and it's awesome, so trying to copy it will just make us wanna go play Uncharted again.
