There's no denying that The Last of Us Remastered is still one of the best games of all time, but The Last of Us Part 1 is a worthy successor that brings the original game's combat and visuals up to modern standards. Though there'll still be a place in the hearts of fans across the globe for the original character models and art design, TLOU Part 1's interpretation of these elements is undoubtedly going to become definitive.

There's just more detail, more depth and more life to the game this time around. Did TLOU need these areas topped up? Arguably not, but they have been, and now there's no going back.

Even better, the game now feels more of a companion piece to The Last of Us Part 2 in terms of their shared visual sensibilities. Parity in the character models closer connects the two games, as does the increased parity of the gameplay.

Before, the two games felt like sequels. Now, they feel more closely like two parts of the same coin, and both titles are strengthened because of it.
