The Legend Of Bum-Bo: 10 Things You Need To Know
8. ...With A Puzzle Based Combat System
While the roguelike elements of Isaac have been carried over, one system that has most certainly changed is the combat. Gone is the fast-paced tear action, which has instead been replaced with a bejewelled-esque puzzle combat system.
Bumbo uses his fists and trash to fight monsters. Matching a variety of items such as bones and hearts create a variety of opportunities. Items like bones and teeth do damage to enemies while hearts heal yourself. Depending on how you want to play and what items you pick up, there is a lot of scope for each player's perfect playthrough.
Those who were fans of Isaac's pacing may be slightly disappointed by this more thoughtful approach, but the gameplay that McMillen has shown off so far still looks like it can capture the exciting energy that Isaac was brimming with.
