The humble bottle may not look like much, but in the Zelda universe they’re one of the most valuable tools in your arsenal. Ever since A Link To The Past, most mainline Zelda games have featured bottles in some form or another, and if you want to be an efficient hero, you’ll get your hands as many as you can.

Bottles can be crucial to your success in Zelda games, from story contrivances to basic survival in the dangerous world. Bottles can carry bugs or fish; in some games, NPCs stuff themselves into bottles for transportation purposes. They can also carry invaluable potions and even fairies - the contents of bottles can quite literally bring Link back from the dead.

Bottles can even be utilised directly in your fight with Ganondorf in Ocarina Of Time, used to deflect his bolts of energy back at him in the final showdown (some players claim this is an easier technique than using the Master Sword - make of that what you will as far as Zelda lore goes). They may not be the most exciting Zelda item, but Link would be a fool to go into battle without his trusty bottle.
