The Legend Of Zelda: 10 Most Powerful Items

Musical instruments are a stalwart of the Zelda series, but none boast the power of the ocarina of time. Debuting in the game of the same name, the terracotta tune maker is capable of some incredible feats, and its mastery is vital if Link is to save Hyrule from its terrible fate.

The ocarina is Link’s most powerful instrument by virtue of its sheer scope. It can mess with time, skipping forward and (in Majora’s Mask) backwards, slowing it down or speeding it up. It can warp Link around the land of Hyrule, and lead once-furious Goron leaders in a merry, spirit lifting dance.

Later on, it can soothe tormented souls and turn them into masks which contain their spirits - a bit niche, but it comes in handy. In Majora’s Mask the ocarina may be more important still, ultimately summoning the four giants of Termina to stop the moon from crashing into and destroying the earth.

It may not look like much, but the remarkable powers of the ocarina have gone a great way to keeping both Hyrule and Termina safe from peril. There’s a reason Link looks at it with such awe every time he plays a ditty.
