The Single Most Annoying Part Of Every Main Series Zelda Game

4. Filler Exploration - The Wind Waker

Nintendo have a reputation for delaying The Legend of Zelda games for years to ensure they aren't released until they are truly ready. One of the very few times they didn't do this was with Wind Waker.

The company was so behind schedule, they scrapped three entire levels. Because the game had a big empty section, Nintendo needed to fill it with something.

Since the game revolves around sailing, Nintendo just filled it with... more sailing. Throughout the game, you have to travel to 40 sections of The Great Sea to fill 40 maps. Collecting the maps at first is fun but it takes HOURS and you get sick of it very quickly.

On top of that, the last third of the game focuses on a tedious fetch quest for eight Triforce pieces. The fact that you have to constantly use the Wind Waker to change the direction of the wind also gets monotonous.

Nintendo were fully aware with how unhappy players were with the excessive seafaring. To accommodate this criticism, the HD remake simplified the Triforce quest. On top of that, a power-up called the Swift Sail was inserted that allowed Link to sail twice as quickly.
