These Video Game Character Redesigns SUCK!
1. Megaman - Street Fighter X Tekken
So, imagine this scene. You've just bought a brand new copy of Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS3, you've got your little code in the box that unlocks a whole bevy of new characters and in amongst them, you spy that the one and only Megaman is going to be rocking up to the ruckus!
That's pretty exciting, right? To get the chance to smash the likes of that smug prick Steve Fox back to old Blighty is enough to make me Mega Bust in my underwear! However, there's one teeny-tiny problem with this iteration of "mega man" and that's....well...how to put it best?
HE'S A FAT USELESS s**te.
This absolute garbage can of a man is less Robot Master and more absolute disaster as his design is based on the terrible original box art for the first Mega Man game. And I know what you're thinking, "aww that's a bit of a cute nod to his much meme'd past" but here's the thing, this isn't a wink and a smile from old uncle Capcom, this is them rubbing a much-treasured icon in dog feces and then holding it aloft and whispering under their breath "Yeah that's right you're so desperate for more Mega Man content that we can do anything we like to him and you'll thank us for it"
Seriously, the 40-year-old rut-gut, the ugly demeanor, and the ridiculous fighting style? This was the devs having a laugh AT Mega Man and not with him, only serving to highlight the severe drought they'd self-imposed on the series until very recently. This wasn't a blast from the past, it was a blast out of their arse with them telling us the nuggets raining onto our face were choclate coated nostalgia pellets.
