3. Gorgeous Graphics

Does it really have to be said? The latest Tomb Raider looks absolutely gorgeous for the most part, clearly inspired aesthetically by the Uncharted games yet offering enough diversity not to feel like an unimaginative clone. The quality of the character animations, lip sync, combat, environments and enemies are all far above anything we've experienced in the series to date, and with this well-set foundation, we can already begin wondering what Crystal Dynamics will manage to cook up for a next-generation sequel. Gone is the rectangle-boobed protagonist of the earlier games, and here is a more realistic, authentic adventure game, which nevertheless refuses to surrender the sheer fun and thrill of some outrageous set-pieces. Diverse, and boasting production values to rival any AAA blockbuster title, Tomb Raider is back with more bang than any prior entry ever dreamed to have.
