8 Games We Love Even Though They SUCK

5. Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 is the virtual embodiment of the identity crisis the series was suffering through at the turn of the 2010s, as Capcom pushed and pulled the franchise between its survival horror origins and more mainstream-skewing action.

The sixth mainline game marks an extremely roughshod attempt to give fans both flavours of Resident Evil at once.

Its 20-hour slog of a four-part campaign pinballs players between more traditional Resident Evil gameplay and overpowering, Michael Bay-inspired action schlock.

For some this marked the point at which Resident Evil strayed too far from its roots, resulting in a deeply chaotic experience which many found genuinely exhausting to get through.

Yet for every player who felt like Capcom were wringing the slop-bucket into the fanbase's gaping maw, there was someone who appreciated just how hard Resident Evil 6 went.

No, this wasn't your daddy's Resident Evil, but its commitment to laughably over-the-top set-pieces and ridiculous dialogue had charms all of its own. After all, Resident Evil started out as a love letter to classic B-movie horror.

But even those who loathe the game to this very day should at least appreciate that its polarising reception is precisely what motivated Capcom to rebound with the incredible Resident Evil 7.

Without Resident Evil 6 being what it is, the series wouldn't be soaring so high today.
