8 Games We Love Even Though They SUCK
6. Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII spin-off Dirge of Cerberus marked a major departure from the core RPG franchise, given that it was a third-person shooter starring the series' resident edge-lord supreme, Vincent Valentine.
And measured up against the mainline franchise, Dirge of Cerberus is an unpolished mess, defined by shockingly clunky shooting mechanics, tediously linear level design, and a dull, forgettable story.
But behind all its jank and repetition, there is some goofy charm that's tough to entirely resist.
Vincent is a hilarious cornball of a protagonist, and the game's soundtrack - a brilliantly unwieldy rock-opera mish-mash - genuinely slaps to this very day.
It's impossible to say with a straight face that Dirge of Cerberus lived up to the pre-release hype, but sometimes a resoundingly mid slice of action game trash with a colourful main character and some banging music is exactly what the doctor ordered.
An artery-cloggingly greasy burger in video game form, nobody's going to pretend that Dirge of Cerberus is good for them, but it's a welcome guilty indulgence on occasion.
