5. Best Ending - Suikoden II
Suikoden II is an absolute banger of an RPG sequel with four distinct endings, the best of which requires players to successfully recruit all 108 Stars of Destiny during their playthrough.
These 108 characters range from major to minor fixtures throughout the game, and while it's theoretically possible for an especially lucky and attentive player to recruit all of them on their own, the odds of everything working in their favour are incredibly slim.
This is because several characters can be missed if you don't get them during a certain time window, and recruitment of some characters is contingent upon an arcane set of circumstances which aren't made apparent to the player at all.
Elsewhere there are mini-games to beat, and in one instance even replying to a dialogue box too slowly can lock you out of getting the best ending. Woof.
Granted, the ending is totally worth it for fans of the series, but it's absolute lunacy to even consider gunning for it without a guide.
