8 Villains Who Made Good On Their Second Chance
7. The Arbiter - Halo
Halo's Arbiter - or as fans will better know him, Thel 'Vadamee - was first introduced in Halo 2 as a former Covenant Elite commander who is put on trial for failing to stop Master Chief from destroying Halo in the original game.
The Arbiter is then sent on a glorified suicide mission by the Covenant in order to "redeem" himself in their eyes, but ultimately once he crosses paths with Master Chief, he learns that the mythic, hallowed Great Journey the Covenant is working towards will actually result in a galactic genocide.
This causes a major shift in the Arbiter's worldview as he uneasily teams up with humanity to stop the Covenant, but by the end of Halo 3 he's become a more steadfast ally.
Even though The Arbiter has a whole ton of human blood on his hands for the role he played in the Covenant's wider crusade, he did what so many struggle to - he switched sides when faced with overwhelming evidence and re-balanced the scales with his subsequent heroism.
