Uncharted 4: 11 Things We Hated
1. Repetitive Gameplay Mechanics
And finally, as glorious a package as Uncharted 4 is, it's also prone to feeling a little repetitive on occasion. No, this doesn't just relate to the aforementioned crate nonsense, but also the sheer number of times you need to boost a partner up to a higher area or get boosted yourself, and also how many times you'll leap to a handhold while platforming, only for the hold to break away dramatically.
These things are all fine in moderation, but occasionally the game does overdo it, especially considering how the combat was toned down here in favour of greater platforming. The handhold shtick feels especially played out after the first few hours of play are done with.
Perhaps this is why the game is best played in small doses, so the repetition isn't quite so apparent (as well as the fact that this is a marvelous game well worth savouring). Maybe Naughty Dog should've toned down the repetition for the mere sake of padding and kept the game to a tight 10-12 hours in length, rather than stretching it out to 12-14 hours.
