Although this book is the 23rd instalment of the bewilderingly long Horus Heresy series set 10,000 years before the 41st Millennium. It does hold some titbits of knowledge that no true fan of Warhammer should be without.

If you have ever heard anything about Warhammer 40,000 then you’ve probably heard the phrase “Eye of Terra”. It refers to a tear in Space that has allowed the Warp, a hellish landscape of daemons, to seep into reality. However, within the lore of Warhammer it is often unclear exactly why it is called this as it isn’t near the planet Terra, the homeworld of humanity, not even the same side of the Galaxy!

The mystery is hidden within the pages of this book and it begins to scratch the surface of what the daemonic corruption of this place can do to one of the Emperor’s sons.

The book follows two of the Primarchs, the gene-enhanced generals of the Emperor’s legions, as they seek the power of an ancient Aeldari weapon known as the Angel Exterminatus right in the heart of the Eye of Terra. It is a tale of betrayal, corruption and ascension that helps the reader understand how far these once noble warriors have fallen to damnation.
