Watch Dogs 2: 11 New Gameplay Features You Need To Know About
4. Marcus Halloway Is The Anti-Aiden Pearce
As I mentioned in the intro, Pearce was a truly terrible character. Pegged as some sort of overgrown manchild trying to balance the H4RDC0R3 H4CKING LYFE with his own son, immediately almost everyone simply thought "F**k this guy."
Enter Marcus Halloway, someone who "has a major axe to grind against the system". Unlike Aiden he's involved in a murder mystery arc, where he's wrongly been blamed and needs to seek the truth. Basic stuff, sure, but enough of a solid foundation to spin an enjoyable plot yarn, nonetheless.
Where Pearce was flat, Marcus is vibrant and characterful. Where the former's 'arc' was essentially one big revenge kick, Halloway should have resolution and talking points after all's said and done, and where you'd struggle to define Aiden outside making comparisons to a schoolyard paedophile, Marcus is younger, and looks to have his hacker traits backed up by a solid, fun social circle.
