4. Nameless King
Yeah, I take that back.
The Nameless King is one of the favorite boss battles ever. He's tougher than a Fisherman's skin, harder to read than my ex-girlfriend, and hits heavier than the tone of the film The Road. Jesus, I'm still not over that one.
The battle being broken down into two distinct parts means you have to adapt entirely to whatever the Nameless King throws at you, be it lightning, waves of sheer energy, or trying to impale you from afar. It's a great encounter that will make you actually feel like you've advanced as a person upon completion.
In fact, it's such a good boss fight that it was hidden away in an optional area because he simply is that great, he makes others look terrible by comparison.
