What GTA 6 MUST Learn From GTA 5
2. Side Missions Need Rewards
This writer was a huge fan of the 'Strangers & Freaks' mechanic that became Rockstar's go to from the original Red Dead Redemptions onwards. They went wild with the idea in GTA 5 too, but that was hardly the worst idea. Looking back, there was only really one annoying flaw with it.
Most of these side quests didn't offer up a tangible reward.
Getting secondary characters as a contact on your phone wasn't nearly enough. GTA 6 must give players a reason to seek 'Strangers & Freaks' out, then plough through their mini-stories for some kind of prize. As fun as they were in 5, most were ultimately pointless. That sucks.
Every single side mission in 6 has to dangle a carrot in front of gamers. If weirdos want you to take pictures of distressed celebs, or elderly couples want you to invade people's homes to steal their possessions, then they need to stump up cash, reward you with cool vehicles/weapons/safe houses and more.
