WWE 13: 4 Reasons We Can't Wait For Attitude Era Mode

3. The Attitude

When you look at the current state of wrestling, it's difficult not to look back at the Attitude Era with an envious eye - especially in terms of how the Era re-invented the sports entertainment with a whole new outlook and most importantly an edgier feel. Though today we have superstars who sell pay-per-views and delight the fans like CM Punk, back then we had swagger before it was post-modern or comical - when icons like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock would stalk arenas and own the joint without the tiniest sense of irony, and we loved them for it. Because of the harder edge, and the greater sense of the sport as a rock and roll like culture, the Attitude Era has always appealed as the best back-drop for a more entertaining story mode, with greater intrigue and more pronounced celebration of the anti-hero, rather than the propagation of soap opera drama that seems to drive too many of the current biggest storylines in WWE. The opportunity to fight those iconic matches, recapturing the in-ring moments that defined the WWE's most important era is one thing, but to be able to relive the atmospheres, and the major narrative moments outside of combat is a huge draw.
