WWE 2K14: 4 Classic Wrestlemania Matches That Won't Be Included

3. Edge And Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boyz

Matthardy Tables, Ladders And Chairs (TLC) Match for the WWF Tag Team Championship (Wrestlemania 17, 2001) What Happened? €“ Towards the end of the Attitude Era that resulted in the death of WCW (the WWE's competitor in the Monday Night Wars), the company had an abundance of talented tag team performers, from Faarooq and Bradshaw (the APA) to comedy jobber teams such as Kai En Tai. The hottest properties in the division, however, were Edge and Christian, the Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy) and the Dudley Boyz (D-Von and Bubba Ray). A ladder match between the three duos took place at Wrestlemania 2000, with Edge and Christian emerging victorious and winning the WWF Tag Team Championship for their efforts. The three teams would then feud over the belts for much of the next year, trading it on several occasions (interspersed with brief reigns from Too Cool and the Right to Censor) and competing for it in a TLC match at SummerSlam. A second TLC match was booked for Wrestlemania 21, which shocked and awed the crowd in attendance and viewers at home with the sheer number of insane spots that it featured. There was interference from Lita (on behalf of the Hardys), Spike Dudley (on behalf of his onscreen brothers) and Rhyno (on behalf of Edge and Christian) as the three teams battled for supremacy, with highlights including a 20 foot Swanton Bomb from Jeff Hardy, a Spear from Edge on Jeff as he hung from a belt and a triple ladder fall that sent all six men flying. It eventually ended with Christian getting his hands on the two belts suspended above the ring, bringing an end to an encounter that set the bar high for future TLC matches and could've easily ended the career of any of the men involved, given the dangerous nature of most of the spots. Why Won't We See It? €“ Because of several reasons. Christian is still an active competitor within the WWE and Edge remains on amicable terms with them following his retirement (forced by injury in 2011), but the WWE's relationship with the Hardy Boyz, Matt and Jeff, is less then acrimonious €“ the former left the company in 2010 due to assorted frustrations about his status within it, whilst the latter left in 2009 to recover from injury after a feud with the straight-edge CM Punk, whose mockery of Jeff's many struggles with drugs in promos may have contributed to his decision not to return to the company and sign with TNA (where he remains to this day) instead. The Dudley Boyz, Bubba Ray and D-Von, meanwhile, are or have recently been employed by TNA as well €“ Bubba Ray (under the name of Bully Ray) is currently serving as the company's champion, whilst D-Von (as Devon) has only recently parted ways with them.
