WWE 2K17: 13 Major New Details Triple H Just Revealed
6. It's A "Fan's Dream"
There's very much a sense in the way Triple H framed the announcement, that he sees NXT as the Boy's Own sort of dream opportunity for WWE fans. Because it's a development territory at heart, fans are encouraged to be invested in the stars' progression through the ranks and their increasing proximity to the main event, beyond just their pursuit of the championship.
They see guys like Finn Balor moving up the ranks and rising to the top of the brand, and there's inherently a suggestion that he's their champion, their guy.
That's probably why Triple H talks about NXT the way he does:
"NXT has really become the fans'--kind of the fans' fans' dream, I think in some ways. And I think this is where this game is going to really kick in with them. Having that NXT edition just puts you at a different level. And, I'm excited for them, excited about the exploded growth of and popularity of NXT and excited that we can carry that over into the 2K17 NXT edition on October 11th."
Having NXT in there definitely fits in with the game's focus on playing through an entire career too, and Triple H expects this just to be the start of it:
"In the last few years, the reality of that has become: Performance Center, NXT, and then through the rest of your career. And hopefully, that's Raw, SmackDown, Wrestle Mania Hall of Fame. You know, and to be able to follow that career path and succeed within that video game is part of the excitement of it. So, I think you're going to see NXT become more and more a part of it over the years."
