WWE 2K22: 10 Hands On First Impressions You Need To Know
1. They’ve Redeemed Themselves
Let's end with some seriously great news.
WWE 2K22 is a much more polished experience than the awful 2K20 was. That two-year development time came in handy, and was put to good use by 2K's team. They were rightly embarrassed by what they churned out in late-2019, and they're eager to make sure 2K22 gets people back onboard.
Character models are better, the lighting is gorgeous, sound helps every match seem more like a proper live event, gameplay is fun, and there's more bang for your buck thanks to MyGM, MyRISE etc. Early builds of the game don't suggest it'll reinvent the wheel, but it does provide 2K with a better template to build on top of.
Maybe this is the best way to put it: 2K22 isn't what 2K15 was on PS4 and Xbox One. In other words, it has touches to it that actually feel like they'll justify the next-gen purchase. That should be considered a win for the team (and fans) following 2K20's disaster.
