WWE 2K22 Release Date - When Is It Coming Out?

When can we wash the taste of WWE 2K20 out of our mouth?

While the early buzz around the game has been extremely positive, WWE 2K22 has still yet to be given an official release date.

All that we've heard about WWE 2K22 is that it's "Coming Soon" and that "It Hits Different". In terms of a release, the tentative plan was for the game to hit consoles in the fourth quarter of this year.

Given the relative silence on the game, plus that the official WWE Games Twitter account hasn't been active for over two months now, some are speculating that this upcoming release may end up being delayed.

Usually, WWE Games is hugely active once a new release has been announced, whether that's posting footage and images from said game, or simply interacting with fans in order to drum up interest in the release. Instead, it's been radio silence from the WWE Games account since 15 June.

One school of thought is that maybe 2K and WWE are holding off on releasing any further information until a major event. With this year's SummerSlam currently just two days away, that could well be the perfect time to make waves by dropping some new WWE 2K22 details - including a formal release date.

If we don't hear anything on WWE 2K22 during SummerSlam weekend, some will again take this as a further indicator that 2K22 may end up pushed back to early next year. Due to how outright awful WWE 2K20 was, clearly WWE, 2K Games and Visual Concepts will be keen to take as long as necessary to make sure that WWE 2K22 is as good as it can possibly be.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
