Xbox 720: 10 Rumours We Hope Are True

6. Six Times More Powerful Than The Current-Gen

Alright, so maybe this one is a bit of a cheat. You can€™t quantify technological power so easily, certainly not in single digit figures. This is PR speak; the kind of pseudo-technical jargon that only those without bespoke knowledge of the hardware speak in. Well, I€™m one of those guys, so you€™ll have to bear with me. In an article on VG247, an anonymous source states that the new Xbox will boast two GPU€™s; that it possesses the equivalent power of two PC€™s taped together. There will be four to six cores, one of which will power the in-built Kinect and one of which will exclusively power the Operating System. That potentially leaves four cores dedicated exclusively to gaming. I€™m no expert, but this all sounds rather impressive. Couple that with the fact that 720 is rumoured to be incorporating bleeding-edge AMD hardware; this generation shift may represent the biggest leap forward in terms of sheer power that we€™ve seen to date.
