5. Killer Instinct

Hard to believe it has been almost 20 years since Killer Instinct 2, but in all that time the fans desire for a sequel has rarely abated and the Xbox One could be the time for the series to reappear. The launch of the new console is surely a great time for Rare to get back to what they do best and stop faffing about with rubbish Kinect games and give the fans what they really want (apart from Goldeneye HD) which is a new Killer Instinct and rumours would suggest that is exactly what is going to happen. For those who have don't remember or are simply too young (I feel old now) the original games didn't deviate massively from your standard beat'em up template but there were a few notable differences, for example instead of rounds the players simply had two health bars and whoever had theirs depleted first lost the fight and it's a system I do prefer to the "Best Of 3 Rounds". It also featured one of the best character rosters ever and it is pretty much the only game I can think of which allows you to pit a velociraptor against a skeleton in a fight to the death. Now that is something I want to see in glorious HD.
