Xbox Scarlett: 9 CONFIRMED Console Details You Need To Know
5. It's 8K/120FPS Ready
The current console generation can barely support 1080p resolution and a stable 60fps frame-rate unless you ponied up the cash for one of Microsoft or Sony's mid-cycle refreshes, but the next Xbox has been confirmed to be as future-proofed as possible, supporting 8K resolutions and 120fps gameplay.
Though the former feature was to be expected, as Sony boasted the same resolution for the PS5 last month, frame rates up to 120fps are unheard of in the console space. Though that's often been a feature PC gamers have held over their console brethren, Microsoft are attempting to bridge that gap, making sure its next machine isn't underpowered in the same way the original Xbox One was back at launch.
There are a few issues that come with this, of course. Namely, that 4K TVs are only just starting to become widespread, as are TVs capable of displaying footage at 120fps. That can only mean that the Scarlett will have a longer shelf life, however, and unlock its potential as the next generation goes on, rather than knocking it out the park initially and then stagnating.
