Xbox Series X: 10 Worries Microsoft NEED To Address
4. How Will The Digital Series X Alternative Differ?
Much like its biggest competitor, Microsoft will be offering both a disc and disc-less version of its latest console.
Rumoured to be called the Xbox Series S (Codenamed Lockheart), this digital version of the console will offer a compromise for those looking to purchase the new system later this year. But information has been slow on this alternate version; gamers are still unsure as to how it will differ from its bigger brother.
Microsoft could have revealed more details about the S at its recent games showcase, but it still remains rather tight-lipped. It's said to be far cheaper than the regular Series X, but will any other components be affected by the digital only focus?
It's possible a smaller and compact console may allow less room for high tech graphics cards and RAM. This raises another helping of questions as to how Xbox's digital strategy will work.
Xbox was lambasted early last generation for its planned implementation of DRM software to block used games and restrict how console owners could use the Xbox One. It would be a grave mistake if they were to relapse into this approach again.
We're likely to hear more about this iteration before it releases at the end of the year
