The most notable example came with Crackdown 3; certainly a letdown in terms of big name exclusives, but the talk of cloud computing didn't do it any favours. Early on, developer Sumo Digital claimed that the game would offer unparalleled destruction thanks to both the power of the Xbox One and its connections to cloud computing. Bold promises for sure, but they ended up ringing hollow, which only added to the overall disappointment.
Offering the most detailed visuals is no longer enough; developers at Microsoft need to branch out and expand their art styles, creating a more defined identity for new franchises.
Ori and the Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps have already done a brilliant job at this; now we need to see new franchises following suite.
