10 Horror Franchises Set For A Huge 2024

2. Child's Play

Chucky TV
Syfy

The Child's Play franchise has never been in as good a place as it is right now. Even the biggest fans of the property would agree that the initial five movies were somewhat of a mixed bag, but Don Mancini nicely reignited the franchise with 2013's Curse of Chucky and 2017's Cult of Chucky. Going one better, though, Mancini has mesmerised with Syfy's absolutely majestic Chucky TV series.

Taking the momentum of Curse and Cult, expanding upon existing lore while bringing a whole host of great new characters into the mix, Chucky has been a total blast since premiering in 2021.

Why is 2024 a big year for the Child's Play franchise, then? Well, that's because Chucky will be returning for the second half of its third season. Currently on a mid-season break, the final four episodes of the season will arrive from May. And if those episodes can match the quality of what's been seen in the first half of the season, we should be in for an absolute treat.

With both Chucky and Tiffany having made their way to the Dead By Daylight video game at the end of last year, the Child's Play franchise is riding a whole new wave of popularity. Added to that, Don Mancini told ComicBook.com that he's open to doing a crossover with Chucky and M3GAN, and has also discussed doing something with Child's Play and one of the various horror properties and characters under the Universal banner.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
