In Robert Rodriguez's supernatural thriller, bank-robbing siblings Seth (George Clooney) and Richie Gecko (Quentin Tarantino) find themselves on the run after a botched murder. The pair kidnap pastor Jacob Fuller (Harvey Keitel) and his kids, ordering the family to drive them all to Mexico.

After getting through the border, the criminals and Jacob's family settle in at a sleazy nightclub. When the club's patrons and hosts turn out to be bloodthirsty vampires, the Geckos and the Fullers form an unsteady alliance to survive.

Now, there's no question Seth is a scumbag. But since this foul-mouth degenerate is nifty with firearms and has no qualms with killing, he proves to be an exceptional vampire slayer.

Although Jacob would be the hero in a more conventional story, he's simply not as resourceful as his kidnapper. And when Jacob becomes vampirized, Seth is the only one capable of getting out of this mess.

At the break of dawn, Seth and Jacob's daughter, Kate, are the only ones left standing. Even though things started with Seth being the antagonist, circumstances indirectly turned him into the story's saviour.
