10 Horror Movies That Switch The Main Character Halfway
3. 28 Weeks Later
28 Weeks Later opens with Don (Robert Carlyle) and his wife Alice being attacked by a horde of Rage-infected maniacs. To save himself, Don flees in a boat, leaving Alice to die.
When the outbreak is neutralised six months later, Don is brought to a safe zone, where he finds his children Tammy and Andy. Shortly after, the family discovers Alice survived her encounter with the Infected.
Not only that, Alice is revealed to be asymptomatic to the Rage virus, meaning her blood can create a vaccine. With Don's family reunited and the crisis supposedly averted, things are starting to look up.
But after Don kisses his infected wife, she passes the Rage onto him. After Don turns into a mindless monster, he slaughters his wife immediately afterward.
Don then creates a new legion of Infected, leaving the city in total anarchy. From this moment on, the plot focuses on Tammy and Andy trying to escape before the military firebombs the city.
Because Robert Carlyle is an A-List star and his character opens the film, it's a safe bet the story would revolve around his character. As a result, watching Don succumb to the virus and transform into the main villain was a shocker.
