6. Leatherface - Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Throughout the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, Leatherface is often depicted as a deranged cannibal who kills out of instinct or enjoyment. But in the 2022 sequel, his motivation is more personal.
The film begins with sisters Melody and Lila travelling with their friends to Harlow, hoping to turn the desolate town into a trendy resort. While investigating a crumbling orphanage, they discover it's still inhabited by a feeble elder called Ginny, and her carer, Leatherface. When they inform Ginny she's being evicted, she dies from shock, incentivising the chainsaw-wielding mad man to butcher everyone in his path.
After Leatherface has dismembered all of Melody and Lila's friends - as well as a busload of civilians - the sisters supposedly defeat him by slashing his head with his own weapon. But in the closing moments, Lila is forced to watch the man-eating brute lop Melody's head off before the screen cuts to black.
Although Leatherface is the antagonist, it's worth mentioning that none of this would've happened if he was left alone. After these girls caused him to lose his house and his maternal figure, you can't really blame him for seeking revenge.
