10 More Horror Movie Villains Who Got The Best Revenge
5. The Creature - Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Frankenstein wasn't just the cornerstone of sci-fi horror; it's among the most iconic revenge tales in literature. Although the 1931 film version is more well-known, the 1994 adaptation is closer to the source material.
Desperate to conquer death, Dr. Victor Frankenstein stitches together an assortment of human body parts and brings it to life. Terrified of what he has made, Frankenstein shuns his newly awoken Creature, forcing it to go into hiding.
Several months later, Frankenstein is confronted by the Creature, who he believes is dead-set on revenge. However, the disfigured entity shows immeasurable restraint, agreeing to leave his father in peace if he creates a suitable mate for him. When Frankenstein refuses, The Creature tracks down his fiancee, Elizabeth, and rips her heart out.
Unable to live without his beloved, Frankenstein resurrects her in the same way he revived the Creature. However, Elizabeth is so distraught by her malformed appearance, she takes her own life, breaking Frankenstein's heart for the second time.
Knowing the Creature will never stop hunting him, Frankenstein ventures to the Arctic, where he dies from pneumonia. Sadly, Frankenstein has no one to blame but himself, since he could've averted his dire fate if he accepted his creation in the first place.
