10 Wild Horror Movie Weapons That Made You Squirm

It was touched on earlier in the Scream entry that simple household items can make hideous weapons, and they are made worse by the fact that they are so innocuous and innocent. It was the stove in Scream, and it was a cheese grater in Evil Dead Rise.

According to writer and director Lee Cronin, he always wanted to have a fight scene take place in the kitchen during the film, and because he was writing it while under lockdown in 2020, he found himself more drawn to the things around his home than he perhaps would have been otherwise.

Chances are if you've ever used a cheese grater for its intended purpose, you've probably nicked a finger or a thumb, or at least been worried about doing so, and that's bad enough. Worse than that is someone taking the weapon to your skin in anger.

That's what happened in Evil Dead Rise, as the demonic Bridget (Gabrielle Echols) stripped a chunk of her aunt Beth's (Lily Sullivan) leg away. It is utterly horrifying, so much so that when it was shown in the trailer, it was all anyone could talk about even before the film had actually released.
