20 Awesome Horror Movies With No Sequels

One of the most critically and commercially successful horror films of the last 30 years, The Others is a sublimely atmospheric and tragic ghost story, elevated by Nicole Kidman's magnificent performance in the lead role and that jaw-dropping plot twist.

Said twist certainly lays some fertile ground for a continuation of the Stewart family's story within an entirely new context, and in an interview with The Guardian last year, Kidman herself said that, of all the roles in her lengthy career, this is the one she'd most like to revisit.

A legacy sequel to The Others definitely has potential, but there's also something to be said for letting the original stand on its own two feet, rather than risk tainting it with a sub-par decades-later follow-up.

Kidman clearly isn't hurting for work so this is unlikely to be a serious possibility for her, assuming that writer-director Alejandro Amenábar would even be interested in returning to it.
