20 AWFUL Horror Movie Moments You Wish You Could Forget

5. The Ring Two: Deer Attack

The Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups 2 famously begins with one of the worst opening scenes of them all: a poorly-rendered CGI deer wanders into Sandler's bedroom and, when startled by his wife, proceeds to urinate all over his face. Crazily enough, that's not actually the dumbest deer-related scene in movies, not even close. Here's another one which makes Sandler's work look practically Shakespearean.

2005's The Ring Two, which ranks among the worst horror sequels of the century, features this unforgettably awful turkey of a 'scare'. While protagonist Rachel (Naomi Watts) and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) are driving along, they suddenly get attacked by several unconvincing CGI deer. Between the sub-par special effects and the annoying child actor repeatedly yelling "Don't stop!" in the same tone of voice (Rachel does keep stopping the car though!) this probably had entire cinemas rolling in the aisles.

It's a sequence that's not only devoid of fear, but also of logic. It's never made clear why deer are going after them. Previously, the movie's ghost antagonist Samara Morgan possessed horses but deer, you know, aren't horses. They're both four-legged so... is that enough?

Anyhow, whatever was going on here, this was misjudged in the extreme. Not even director Hideo Nakata, a master of horror who actually directed the Japanese Ring, could make this work.
