20 AWFUL Horror Movie Moments You Wish You Could Forget
13. Black Christmas (2019): "Not All Men"
"Why are you allowed to say all this s**t about men and we're supposed to just sit here and take it?"
"Because men have all the power!"
"Not all men have power."
"Did you just 'Not all men' me?! Did you just-"
"Not all men are rapists, Kris! I'm not! You just lump me in with the bad ones because I'm a man!"
This dialogue sounds like some people having an argument on Twitter but no, this real dialogue that actually got put in a movie. Yikes!
Kudos to the actors in this scene - Aleyse Shannon and Simon Mead - for delivering this dialogue convincingly and with a straight face, that must've been quite the challenge. This argument scene like many other scenes in this mostly unsuccessful, if admirably ambitious, second remake of Black Christmas (a much-underrated horror film you absolutely watch instead of this!), in that it reduces important topics to cringe-worthy, on-the-nose shouting matches filled with buzzwords.
It's always interesting when a modern slasher film chooses to explore issues such as gender inequality and violence against women, especially as so many past slasher films were (not unreasonably) criticized for their misogyny, so it's infuriating that this movie explored these themes in such a stupid, immature way.
