20 Best Christmas Horror Movies You NEED To Watch
3. P2
P2 rather quietly came and went on original release in 2007, but this grimy, bluntly effective little slasher is well worthy of a re-evaluation.
Director Franck Khalfoun (2012's Maniac remake) takes an economic, straightforward premise and milks it for every last drop of suspense, as a young woman (Rachel Nichols) finds herself trapped in a parking garage on Christmas Eve, where she's stalked by the garage's maniacal security guard (Wes Bentley).
This is a shining example of how to do a lot with a little. Despite the limited and seemingly uninteresting central location, Khalfoun cooks up a number of engaging and well-staged chase sequences, even while keeping the body count pretty low. But above all else, it's a testament to the central performances from Nichols and Bentley that this one sustains interest to the finish, proving itself a modestly conceived cat-and-mouse horror that's a whole ton of fun.
This is another Christmastime horror that's desperately deserving of wider appreciation among genre fans.
