20 Best Christmas Horror Movies You NEED To Watch

2. Anna And The Apocalypse

Vertigo Releasing

Anna and the Apocalypse is absolutely a movie you probably never thought you needed, but once you've seen it, that'll all change.

Not merely content to be a zombie film set at Christmas, it's a musical about zombies set at Christmas, when the residents of a sleepy Scottish town find their homestead overrun by the undead horde.

It would've been so easy for this movie to categorically fall flat, but thanks to outstanding performances from the ensemble cast, surprisingly rich characterisation, and some brilliantly toe-tapping tunes, Anna and the Apocalypse cemented itself as an instant Christmas horror classic upon release in 2017.

For any fans of Shaun of the Dead, in particular, this feels like a must-watch, and while it doesn't quite reach the highs of Edgar Wright's Brit-horror masterpiece, it's nevertheless one of the most divertingly unique films of its type of the past decade, if not ever.

That is to say, George A. Romero would probably be proud.
