20 Best Found Footage Horror Movies Ever
19. V/H/S/2
It would be remiss not to mention V/H/S, which remains one of the longest-running and most artistically successful found footage franchises despite having few box office dollars to show for all its hard work.
Picking just a single one of the eight movies so far sure isn't easy, though a safe bet is V/H/S/2, which smooths over some of the first film's rougher edges while serving up the series' most consistent batch of shorts to date.
That is to say, there's not a single dud among the bunch, and even the frame narrative is pretty decent, as has historically been the franchise's weakest element. There are a number of fun shorts here from the likes of Adam Wingard, Eduardo Sánchez, and Jason Eisener, though the easy highlight - and arguably the best V/H/S segment ever - is Safe Haven, the madcap collaboration between Timo Tjahjanto and Gareth Evans about an Indonesian death cult.
V/H/S has had its ups and downs over the years, but the second installment remains the strongest expression of its enormous potential.
