20 Best Horror Movie Kills of 2025

8. Tyler & Ryan - Presence

VHS Halloween

Steven Soderbergh's low-fi supernatural thriller Presence only skirts on the fringes of horror - despite what its marketing suggested - but nevertheless delivered one of the most surprising and gratifying double-death scenes of the entire year.

In the third act, we learn that Chloe's (Callina Liang) romantic interest Ryan (West Mulholland) is actually a serial killer who previously drugged and killed Chloe's friend Nadia as well as another girl.

Ryan attempts to do the very same to Chloe, only for the ghostly presence in Chloe's house to alert her brother Tyler (Eddy Maday), allowing him to make the save. However, when Tyler tackles Ryan towards the nearby window, they both end up falling out to their deaths.

On one hand, it's a satisfying death for the monstrous Ryan, and a tragic sacrificial demise for Tyler, but there's more.

In the film's final scene, it's revealed that the presence was actually Tyler all along, having returned as a spirit in the past to save his sister's life, creating a mind-bending chicken-and-egg causal loop.
