20 Best Horror Movie Kills of 2025

13. Uncle Chip - The Monkey

VHS Halloween
Neon

The first of Oz Perkins' two horror films released this year, The Monkey, just might boast the single most gut-bustingly hilarious death of the entire year, regardless of genre. Yes, we're talking about poor old Uncle Chip (played by Perkins himself).

After young Bill (Christian Convery) decides to turn the cursed monkey's key despite protests from his twin brother Hal (also Christian Convery), Perkins smash-cuts to a funeral service for Chip.

Narration from an adult Hal (Theo James) then reveals that Chip died in a bizarre "hunting accident," where he was trampled to death by 67 wild horses while in a sleeping bag. Because the idea isn't insane enough, we're then shown the sleeping bag being emptied out of Chip's pulped remains, with Hal declaring that he overheard the undertaker say that the scene looked like "someone dropkicked a cherry pie."

The Monkey isn't a movie that leaves the audience wanting for memorable deaths, but in terms of brutality and comedic timing, this was far and away the best one.
