10. Dewey Riley - Scream (2022)
Scream 2022 was the first and to date only Scream sequel to do The One Thing many fans thought they never would: kill off one of the three original heroes. And it was ultimately everyone's favourite cop, Dewey, who was taken off the chessboard when Ghostface attacks Tara at the hospital.
After helping Tara, Sam, and Richie escape the hospital, Dewey decides to go back on his own to finish a downed Ghostface off, surmising that you always need to shoot them in the head. But just as he prepares to open fire, Dewey is distracted by a phone call from Gale (Courteney Cox), giving Ghostface an opening to strike, allowing them to stab him repeatedly before slicing his stomach open, killing him.
Even though many rightly balk at how frustratingly Dewey walked into his own demise - not shooting Ghostface when he had the chance, going back alone, letting himself get distracted - it's still an iconic and utterly chilling death, punctuated by Ghostface's final line, "It's an honour."
