20 Best Kills In The Scream Franchise - Ranked
3. Tatum Riley - Scream
Sid's best pal Tatum (Rose McGowan) is one of the most iconic characters in the series to this very day, and this is capped by how superbly constructed her final scene is.
When grabbing some beers from the garage during her boyfriend Stu's house party, Tatum's cornered by Ghostface, though she believes it to be a prank until the masked individual slashes her arm.
Tatum makes a spirited attempt to escape, even knocking the killer down a few times before scrambling to flee through the garage's small doggy door. However, Ghostface then activates the garage door, causing it to move upwards and crush Tatum's head in the ceiling mechanism.
It's a death scene that tap-dances on the fringes of camp and yet is still genuinely upsetting, both because Tatum was such a likeable character and the means of her demise is so insanely brutal.
Tatum's death has lingered enough in the fanbase's consciousness that it continues to be referenced in the newer Scream films, and rightly so.
