20 Best Kills In The Scream Franchise - Ranked
17. Wes Hicks - Scream (2022)
Literally moments after the death of his mother Judy, Wes is cornered by Ghostface in the hallway of his home, and the result is one of the most brutal slayings in the entire series.
Though Wes desperately tries to fend off the encroaching blade, it's ultimately shoved into the side of his neck, Ghostface slowly forcing it through until it emerges out the other side, and Wes finally succumbs to his traumatic injuries.
We'd seen so many garden-variety stabbings in the Scream franchise by this point that it was refreshing to see filmmakers Radio Silence do something new with Ghostface's signature weapon. From the lingering shot of the knife going in to the gnarly effects work and Dylan Minnette's utterly terrified performance, this was all the proof fans needed that Radio Silence were worthy stewards of Wes Craven's legacy.
That they saved one of the film's most brutal deaths for a character named after Craven himself is just the macabre icing on the cake.
