20 Great Horror Roles Ruined By Terrible Acting
11. Cube - Most Of The Characters
'90s Canadian death game horror Cube is a blast, and one of the finest horror flicks of its decade (an infamously bad one for horror). Having said this, the acting leaves quite a bit to be desired and prevents the movie from rising to out-and-out greatness.
To be fair, Andrew Miller does solid work as Kazan and successfully portrays a learning-disabled character in a way that doesn't feel insulting, but none of the others are especially convincing in their roles, making it a lot harder to really engage with these characters or care particularly about their fates.
Cube was filmed quickly and on a low budget, with minimal outtakes, and that could explain why the actors' performances didn't land better. After all, most of them - including David Hewlett and Nicole de Boer - have had successful careers since this movie.
An American remake has been hinted at in the past, and though the movie was remade (not well) in Japan, no such Western remake has materialized. If it ever does, hopefully they'll get better performances out of the cast next time around.
