20 Horror Films Where The Hero Teams Up With The Villain

Gothic period drama Crimson Peak centres around Edith Cushing, a young writer who falls for a handsome businessman, Sir Thomas Sharpe. Once married, Edith and Thomas move into his crumbling mansion with his hostile sister, Lucille. 

After encountering spirits in the house, Edith discovers Thomas has already wed three wealthy women and had them murdered, hoping to use their fortunes to restore his family estate. Not only that, he and Lucille are in an incestuous relationship and plan to murder her, too.

Lucille is committed to the plan, but Thomas falters when he realises he's fallen in love with Edith. Though he's allowed his sister to slaughter his previous wives, Thomas implores her to spare Edith. In a rage, Lucille fatally wounds Thomas and storms off to kill Edith.

Despite kicking the bucket, Thomas is far from finished. During the climax, Thomas unites with his wife against Lucille, allowing Edith to kill his sister with a shovel.

Although Thomas' actions in the past are horrifying, his late attempt at redemption is honourable. Once he recognised his wrongdoings, Thomas wouldn't let anything stop him from doing the right thing, even after shuffling off his mortal coil.
