More than a few folk online commented on the tonally jarring ending of Primate, which is framed as something of a happy-clappy finale in which the monstrous, rabid chimpanzee Ben is killed and the family that owns him emerges as triumphant survivors.
Except, Ben's rampage against Adam (Troy Kotsur) and his daughters Lucy (Johnny Sequoyah) and Erin (Gia Hunter) will ultimately pale in comparison to the legal reckoning that's about to be brought down upon them.
Even if we assume that Adam's exotic animal license to keep Ben in his home is totally above board, he's about to be sued for every penny he has by the families of every person Ben killed throughout the film.
It'll be the easiest wrongful death lawsuit in the history of humankind, and with Adam being a famous author, he's about to have his entire estate sucked dry by the rightfully pissed-off families of the people whose deaths he inadvertently caused. A happy ending this ain't.
