20 Horror Movie Sequels Releasing In 2026

With 2023's Insidious: The Red Door being the highest-grossing entry into the franchise to date, of course Warner Bros. were going to press on with a sixth entry ASAP, reviews be-damned.

While even fans of the franchise might feel like it's getting a little long in the tooth now, especially with The Red Door being not great, Insidious 6 is notably bringing back the series' secret weapon.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that Lin Shaye, who has won herself a whole new generation of fans with her performance throughout the franchise as medium Elise Rainier, will be reprising her role. Even though Elise died at the end of the first film, she proved popular enough that Shaye has returned to play her numerous times, either in prequels or as a spirit.

Given that Lin Shaye will apparently have a sizable role in Insidious 6, it's probably fair to assume that we will be going back in time once again. And let's be honest, whatever logical hoop-jumping needs to be done to get Shaye in the movie is well worth doing.

Insidious 6 releases on August 21.
