20 Horror Movies That Are FINALLY Happening

10. The Revenge of La Llorona

The Curse of La Llorona
Warner Bros.

Even though Warner Bros. and producer James Wan have largely downplayed its placement within The Conjuring universe over the years, The Curse of La Llorona was nevertheless a sizable box office hit, in spite of negative reviews, grossing $123.2 million on a mere $9 million budget.

Considering that the Conjuring-verse has proven itself a huge fan of sequels, many naturally assumed that some sort of follow-up would arrive in short order. But another La Llorona movie wasn't officially slated until last October, when rising genre filmmaker Santiago Menghini (No One Gets Out Alive) was confirmed to be directing a largely standalone follow-up, The Revenge of La Llorona.

Linda Cardellini's original protagonist, Anna Tate-Garcia, won't be back, with the only returning cast member being Raymond Cruz's former priest, Rafael Olvera.

At least with the first film suffering such a flat reception from critics and general audiences alike, there's every possibility that this sequel is a firm improvement.
