20 Horror Movies That Fall Apart In The Final Act

Rob Zombie's Halloween remake is an over-hated flick and then some. Sure, it misses the point of the original by giving Michael Myers (here played by Tyler Mane) a backstory, but at least, unlike most horror remakes from this era, it bothered to do something different and to be its own thing. Furthermore, the first half of the movie is punchy and effective in its own right, and it has some of the Halloween franchise's most unsettling outbreaks of violence, too.

Unfortunately, it does run out of gas once it catches up with the original film and tries to recreate Michael's Haddonfield rampage. In contrast to the original film's bravura sequences of sustained tension, the remake's equivalent is a scare-free affair that coasts along on gore and gratuitous female nudity. It also drags out for far too long and becomes increasingly repetitive.

Apparently, Rob Zombie was far more enthused about the idea of making a prequel about Michael Myers' early years rather than a straight-up remake, and that definitely shows in the finished film. There is so much more passion and artistic flair in the earlier sequences.
